Endorsement Announcement — From One Brockton Champion to Another
Former Ward 1 City Council Candidate Bill Keene Endorses Stephen Pina for Ward 1 School Committee
Brockton, MA — [October 20, 2025] — The Vote Pina for Ward 1 School Committee campaign proudly announces the endorsement of Bill Keene, former Ward 1 City Council candidate and lifelong Brockton resident.
Keene, a respected community voice and advocate for fiscal responsibility, described his decision as “supporting the right leadership at the right time.”
“I’ve known Stephen since he was a kid — from playing football with his brothers, to working out at Centre City Gym, to watching him coach in Brockton Youth Baseball. Time and again, Stephen has shown his love and loyalty to the city that raised him,” said Keene.
“Stephen is part of Brockton’s champion past. When it was his time on the football field, he carried on that winning tradition with two state championships. I know how important it is to bring that mentality back to this city.”
“That’s why I fully endorse and will be voting on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, for Stephen Pina for Ward 1 School Committee — and I strongly encourage all my friends in Ward 1 to do the same. He’s the only candidate with the ability to ask the right questions and bring common-sense responsibility to the job, as a father of four children in our schools.”
Pina, a Brockton High graduate, U.S. Army Ranger veteran, and father of four Brockton Public Schools students, expressed gratitude for Keene’s endorsement.
“Bill represents everything that makes Brockton — and Ward 1 — strong: family, hard work, and pride in this city,” said Pina. “Having his endorsement means a great deal because he knows what Brockton used to be, and what it can be again when we lead with purpose and conviction.”
This endorsement underscores the growing community coalition behind Pina’s Champion City Project — Brockton 2025, a reform agenda focused on raising academic standards, ensuring safe and disciplined schools, demanding fiscal accountability, and preparing students for real-world success.
“Together, we’re working to restore discipline, accountability, and that winning Brockton spirit that once defined the City of Champions,” Pina added.
