Strong Schools. Strong City.
I’m running for the Ward 1 School Committee because I believe Brockton deserves better—better communication, better results, and better leadership.
For too long, families have been left out of the conversation. Budgets are hidden in jargon, decisions are made in backrooms, and parents hear about change only after it’s already happened.
That ends when I’m elected.
This isn’t just a platform—it’s a promise. My commitment to serve with openness, action, and integrity.
Here’s what that looks like in real terms:
1. Monthly “Strong Schools” Newsletter
Each month, I’ll release a simple, plain-language newsletter—available in print, email, and online—summarizing key votes, upcoming issues, student successes, and spending updates. It’ll keep families and taxpayers informed before decisions are made, not after. If you want transparency, this is where it starts.
2. Town Halls—In Person and Online
I’ll host regular town hall meetings every quarter, both in-person across Ward 1 schools and virtually for those who can’t attend. We’ll see which format works best and keep improving it. These won’t be scripted sessions—they’ll be open conversations about what’s working, what’s not, and what we can fix together.
3. “The Ward” – Your Community Hub
A new section on my campaign and public website called “The Ward.”
It’ll be your direct line into local education—meeting notices, budget links, volunteer sign-ups, and community feedback tools.
If it affects Ward 1 families, it’ll be on The Ward.
4. Real-Time Fiscal Accountability Dashboard
The city is already working on a spending dashboard—but I’ll make sure it’s finished on time and accessible to every resident.
This tool will show how funds are allocated, what’s been spent, and where we’re headed financially.
Fiscal accountability only works when the public can actually see the numbers.
5. Active, Involved Representation
I plan to keep an active tenure—attending school events, site visits, and committee meetings, and keeping open lines with parents, teachers, and staff. You’ll see me at schools, in community spaces, and online—working hard to keep everyone informed and involved.
6. “Champion City Education Show”
Already in the works—no matter how the election turns out. This monthly BCA broadcast and podcast will highlight Brockton students, teachers, and programs that are working. It’s about celebrating success while keeping pressure on what needs fixing.
7. Parent & Student Involvement for All
I’ll personally reach out across the ward to find parents and students who want to help shape Brockton’s future. Whether it’s on advisory panels or planning groups, every family who wants a seat at the table will have one. Real engagement means inviting people in—not waiting for them to come.
8. Annual “State of Education” Report
Each year, I’ll publish a State of the Education Report—a clear, public review of our schools’ progress. It’ll include what we achieved, where we fell short, and what’s next. No fluff, no spin—just results.
9. Open Office Hours—Ward 1 and Virtual
I’ll hold monthly open-door sessions at local schools, libraries, and community centers—and I’ll offer virtual office hours for anyone who prefers to meet online. If you have a question or concern, you’ll always have a direct way to reach me.
10. Building Bridges, Not Walls
Politics has divided too many good people in this city. I’ll work across every line—political, cultural, and community—to build bridges and collaborations that move Brockton forward. Because fixing our schools will take everyone, together.
Sliding Statement
If elected, I’ll measure my success not by headlines, but by how well I listen, learn, and serve. The only way to grow as a leader is to stay accountable to the people you represent—and that’s exactly what I plan to do.
Closing Message
This is my promise to Ward 1.
Simple, specific, and measurable.
No empty rhetoric—just results, accountability, and teamwork.
Let’s bring transparency back to Brockton’s schools and pride back to the City of Champions.
Vote Stephen Pina – Ward 1 School Committee
