Born and bred in Brockton. Raised on discipline, forged by service. Now he’s fighting for our schools.

Stephen is a proud father, U.S. Army Disabled Veteran, and lifelong Brockton resident running for Ward 1 School Committee.

Born and raised in the Ashfield neighborhood, Stephen grew up in the shadow of Brockton High’s championship teams—and later became a two-year starter on back-to-back Super Bowl State Championship squads. After a life-threatening accident two days after high school graduation, he rebuilt himself from the ground up—earning multiple degrees, serving in elite Army units, and leading major initiatives in federal service.

Now, with four kids in Brockton Public Schools, Stephen sees a district in crisis—one where the leadership has failed students, ignored parents, and lost control of the basics: safety, discipline, and standards.

Stephen isn’t running to play politics. He’s running to restore order, raise expectations, and bring real leadership back to Brockton schools.

01

Academic Standards That Mean Something

He’ll raise expectations, enforce literacy benchmarks, and make sure every student leaves Brockton schools ready to read, write, and thrive. Test scores won’t be hidden—they’ll be posted. Excellence will be the floor, not the ceiling.

02

Safe, Disciplined Schools That Put Teachers First

Classrooms can’t function without order. He will restore discipline, support teachers, and expand school safety staffing. Every student, staff member, and parent deserves a safe school—and he wi’ll make sure we deliver it.

03

Respect for Taxpayers, Parents & Staff

He will demand full transparency—on spending, curriculum, and leadership accountability. And he will fight for the unsung heroes: custodians, cafeteria workers, paras, and bus drivers. Respect, across the board.

04

Career & Life Readiness for Every Student

Not every kid needs college—but every kid needs a future. He will push for a new vocational high school, real-world financial literacy, and business-based graduation paths that teach students how to lead, build, and earn.
More about the Pina Family

Rooted in Brockton. Driven by Family.

My story started in Brockton—and it’s still being written here every day through my kids. I’m not running for office to build a résumé. I’m running to fix what’s broken—for the families who stay, fight, and believe in this city just like mine does.

Family Roots, Family Values

I was born in Brockton at Brockton Hospital to Charles and Judy Pina, the youngest of four. My sister Barb (Maraglia) was the oldest, followed by my brothers Mike and Craig. Being five years younger than Craig meant I was always the tag-along little brother—but that’s where I learned toughness, loyalty, and how to keep up, whether it was riding BMX bikes across Ashfield or chasing foul balls at the Little League fields. My sister taught me compassion, and my brothers taught me grit.

Today, I’m a husband and proud father of four incredible kids—Madison, Austin, Kaylee, and Ella—all of whom attend or have attended Brockton Public Schools. My wife, Carlye, is a leader in government, a dedicated soccer coach and strong, steady presence in our family and community. Like many of you, we’re a working family rooted in faith, discipline, and doing what’s right—even when it’s hard.

We’ve chosen to stay in Brockton, not just because it’s home—but because we believe in what this city can be again. That’s why I’m running—not just as a candidate, but as a father who’s invested in our schools, our teachers, and every student trying to find their path forward.
