When I graduated from Brockton High in 1993, our schools were built on pride, discipline, and community ownership. That changed when the state took control of education funding. What started as a plan to “equalize opportunity” ended up erasing local accountability and weakening once-strong cities like ours. If we’re serious about rebuilding Brockton, we have to learn from the past and stop repeating the same mistakes — starting by returning power, trust, and responsibility to the people who live here.
